Eltayeb Bashar is a multi-award-winning human rights activist and youth empowerment leader, recognised for his work in youth empowerment, grassroots mobilisation, and human rights advocacy.
As Founder and CEO of the Global Rights Alliance (GRA), he leads initiatives that empower young human rights leaders across more than 20 countries, supporting them to become effective advocates for justice and equality. His work bridges international diplomacy, local activism, and high-level education to drive sustainable human rights impact.
With a legal background in international human rights law, Eltayeb has contributed to research for Oxford University Press, published in leading human rights journals, and served as Editor-in-Chief of The Birmingham Tab, managing a team of 50+ writers. He holds an LLB (Hons) and is currently an LLM in International Human Rights Law candidate at the University of Birmingham.

Eltayeb has represented youth voices at UNESCO, the NATO Youth Summit in Montenegro, and at the 69th UN Commission on the Status of Women as part of UN Women UK. He has delivered lectures to hundreds of students and trainee teachers across the UK and France, and has been invited for a tour of the UK Parliament after winning the 2024 Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust Prize for his essay on Sudan’s humanitarian crisis.
A respected voice on issues of youth leadership, human rights issues, and international solidarity, he has led major protests, founded an anti-racism charity in his early twenties, and written speeches for civic leaders, including mayors. In 2025, he was named UK Youth Activist of the Year and received the 2025 Birmingham Black Lawyers Student of the Year Award for his contributions to human rights and academia.
